The Crazy J was established in 1994 as a way to offer our handcrafted jewelry to the public to enjoy and own. Our jewelry stems from our interest in the lapidary arts, wire wrapping, silversmithing, and beadwork. Patt likes to say it's her hobby gone berserk!
With a
combined 80+ years of experience designing and creating many types and
styles of jewelry, we can offer you unusual items you will find no
where else. We are constantly looking at items and asking
ourselves "how can this be fashioned into a wearable piece of art?" We
have recycled many items that would have ended up in the landfill and
fashioned them into unusual jewelry pieces that fascinate people once they
found out what the original material was. What started out as plastic
packaging, floppy disk slides, bread wrapper closures, and paint chunks
from an automotive paint booth became beautiful earrings and necklaces
that the owners proudly wear.
We also specialize in repairing or
restyling costume jewely and sterling silver that mainstream jewelry
stores will not bother with. We can replace that clasp on Aunt
Bea's Avon necklace, or convert Grandma's clip earrings to
pierced. Broken pieces and single earrings become stunning new
creations. We can also take your "found objects" and create a truly
personal one-of-a kind masterpiece for you. And because we are a small,
home-based business, we give you the personal attention a larger
enterprise cannot. People often come and watch us design their
jewelry and take their item home that day.
In addition to our handmade items, we also carry a large selection of commercially manufactured sterling silver charms, pendants, rings and chains suitable for both men and women.
